This technique enables us to visualize internal features of the works. What the data can tell us: X- and gamma radiography reveal casting, joining, and repair techniques, helping to characterize techniques and to link them with other works.

Initial results: Gamma radiographs of the AGO Crucifix reveal that it is cast in a completely different technique than a very similar sculpture in the Escorial, leading us to suspect that they were cast by different founders. Radiography is requested from museums that have the appropriate equipment. In some carefully selected cases in which radiography alone will enable us to compare related casts, local providers will be contracted to perform the radiography.
